Common enquiries

What is your washing machine doing?

Describe the part of the wash cycle that goes wrong. A machine that fills normally and stalls at the spin cycle is a different enquiry from one that never powers on.

  • Won’t drain or spin

Say whether water remains in the drum and whether the washer reaches the rinse or spin cycle.

  • Water leaking around the washer

Tell us where you first see the water and whether it appears while filling, washing or draining.

  • Noisy or vibrating

Mention when the sound starts and whether it happens with every load or only a heavy load.

  • Error code or no power

Share the exact code or a photo of the display and tell us what happens when you start a cycle.

How to describe a washing machine fault

If the leak is at the laundry tap or surrounding drain, see plumbing services.

  • Front-load and top-load washers

For a front-loader, mention whether the door stays locked and whether you can see water in the drum. For a top-loader, note whether the lid locks and whether the machine stops before it starts to spin.

  • Water around the washer

Describe where you first see the water, such as at the door, underneath the machine or by the supply tap. Mention if it appears while the washer fills or drains, or if it is present when the machine is off.

  • An estimate for an older machine

Include the brand, approximate age and any previous repair to the same fault. Ask which parts and labour can be priced before a visit and which costs depend on inspection.

Service questions

Details that help when you get in touch about washing machine repair.

Do I need the model number to enquire?

The model number helps identify the washer. You can still enquire with the brand, a photo of the control panel and a short description of the problem.

What should I send if my washer shows an error code?

Share the exact code, the brand and model if available, and the stage of the wash cycle when the error appears.

Can I ask about repair costs before booking?

Yes. Share the symptom and model, then ask about the visit charge and what can be estimated before inspection. Parts and labour depend on the fault found.
